Palmer 3 – 2022 Recap

Paddock Heroes

Bill Chabot – Nice Guy, Fast Driver

How about that Bill Chabot guy? Always ready to help out when needed, whether it is staging people for the relay race, releasing cars for the TT, or griding cars in the paddock. When he is not helping out COM, he is out flogging his RSX Type S showing that the FWD guys can be fast!

Recap

Super U – We certainly have a diverse group of cars at COM, making it tough to stand out. Well Mark Stellato’s Ariel Atom2 did a great job at it, and its pretty fast to boot. He claimed a 1st place finish, a track record, AND most consistent with a 1:40.0…I hope he has room in that thing for all those trophies.

Mark Stellato’s Ariel Atom2

Super A – Battle of the Superlites continues with Tom Greer breaking into the 1:30s with a 1:38.5, which not only claimed first place, but also a track record, and FTD! Nicely done Tom!

Super B – It is so great to see such a fast and competitive Super class. Dan DiMatteo ran a 1:45.3 in his M3 to claim 3 rd place. Second place went to Ryan “Sandy Clam” Catucci with his 1:43.5. More impressive is that he drove his STi that entire time without vaping, well done good sir. First place with a 1:43.3 goes to Jeff Zissulis in a real original platform, the M3. Also, congrats to Mr. Guertin for breaking into the 1:40s but deciding to just skip the 49s and go straight to a 1:48!

Saturday Night Festivities

Super C – Anybody else seeing a theme here? Club of Miatas no more, this is a BMW club now (I blame Jake and Chris)! Tom Cannon narrowly beat out Scott Rosnick for third place with Tom’s 1:45.3 in their shared 318Ti (Not exactly a cute couple, but hey at least they are fast). Jon Cowen in his E36 M3 ran a 1:44.5 which was good enough for a second place finish. First place to another BMW M3 belonging to Jeff Doolan who ran a time of 1:44.0, and in fact he ran 3 1:44s in a row….show off. There was also a WSR, Spec Ford, and a Honda Civic, but I am sure they will have BMWs for next time.

Super D – Jake Wile, 1 st place, track record, 1:45.0. Just going to copy and paste this for now on.

Lots of Smiles!

Super E – Oh wow, some Miatas! Jeff Wasilko with another first place finish of 1:50.8, but Chris Parsons is right on his heels!

Touring 100 – Steven Amanti with another great performance in his Z06 running a 1:43.5 earning him a first place spot. Congratulations to our neighbors to the North, Nicolas Lebeau-Cossette and Jonathan Castellote who claimed a 2nd and 3rd place in their first ever COM event!!! Great to have you guys with us and hope to see you at more events…Watkins Glen is 9/12-9/13
hint hint. Also, the award for the best sounding car goes to Jonathan’s 911. Loudest car was also apparently in the same class, sorry Curt!

Dennis Herrick Gettin’ it done!

Touring 90 – Our new favorite Corvette Grand Sport driver Max Wang claimed first place with a 1:50.6 at his first COM event! Brian Fisher who came in second place, must have thought he had it made without that Brandon guy and his C7 GS at the event, only to have first place tragically stolen by yet another GS!

Touring 80 – Chris Taylor breaking into the 45s with a 1:45.9 which earned him a first place trophy. Nate Geyer putting up a 1:48.1 that got him his first COM podium, nicely done man!!!

Touring 70 – Andrew LaValley got himself on the podium with a 1:49.8, with Brandon Ganem testing out his recently built K-Sapped RX8 just ahead in second with a 1:48.7. Eric Breckner getting the top spot for his 1:46.7, goes to show that Sim Racing definitely can make you fast…either that or it is the stickers. Nicely done fellas! Also have to give a shoutout to the T70 female driver Teresa Ferragamo who although is new to the sport, is already putting up fast times with her 2:01.5!!!

Rodney Carriere, Chief of Tech and Griller Extraordinaire!

Touring 60 – One of the closest finishes yet with Dave Wittmer still winning with his 1:48.5, followed closely by Bob Steenson’s 1:49.3. Also, thanks Bob for getting those pesky pylons out of the way for us.

Touring 50 – Another Dave Lemoine first place finish with him running a 1:48.5 while driving Troy’s Miata MX-5. Rule change request, can we add points to drivers named Dave? Dan Baldwin placing second in his BRZ with a 1:48.7 followed by Troy Velazquez in his MX-5 with a 150.7. Great to see another VW GTI in the field, which was driven by Steve Walker who put down some very consistent low 2:01s, well done!!

Touring 40 – An extremely close 1st and 2nd with Charles Nano’s 1:51.51 edging out Rodney Carriere’s 1:51.56, both driving Miatas. Emily Berthier rounded out the podium with a 1:54.0 in
her FRS.

Touring 30 – Andrew Grigg showing up on Sunday and putting down a 1:52.9 to get his first
place trophy, nice driving as always!
